Garlic Butter Beef and Rice Skillet with Cheddar Parmesan Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Beef & Rice:
-
1 lb ground beef
-
2 tbsp butter
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/2 cup diced onion
-
1 cup uncooked white rice
-
2 1/4 cups beef broth
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
For the Cheddar Parmesan Sauce:
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 tbsp flour
-
1 1/2 cups milk (warm)
-
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
-
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Instructions:
-
Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then add butter, garlic, and onion. Sauté until fragrant and soft.
-
Cook the rice: Stir in uncooked rice and toast for 1–2 minutes. Pour in beef broth, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low for 15–18 minutes, or until rice is tender.
-
Make the cheese sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to form a roux, then slowly add warm milk. Stir constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and mix in cheddar, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and optional nutmeg.
-
Combine and serve: Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked beef and rice. Stir to combine or serve it ladled on top. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra cheese if desired.
