Garlic Butter Beef and Rice Skillet with Cheddar Parmesan Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Beef & Rice:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup diced onion

  • 1 cup uncooked white rice

  • 2 1/4 cups beef broth

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

For the Cheddar Parmesan Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1 1/2 cups milk (warm)

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then add butter, garlic, and onion. Sauté until fragrant and soft.

  2. Cook the rice: Stir in uncooked rice and toast for 1–2 minutes. Pour in beef broth, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low for 15–18 minutes, or until rice is tender.

  3. Make the cheese sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to form a roux, then slowly add warm milk. Stir constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and mix in cheddar, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and optional nutmeg.

  4. Combine and serve: Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked beef and rice. Stir to combine or serve it ladled on top. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra cheese if desired.
